Editing After Publication: Is It Possible?

I tried and it didn’t work out. Does anybody know why?

I recently published a piece that felt very real and raw to me. I thought long and hard on whether to self-publish it or submit it to a publication. Looking at the list of those I write for, I chose Know Thyself, Heal Thyself.
