Canceling My Medium Subscription

I’m almost ready to hit the cancel membership button: an update.

My Medium subscription ends on May 8, 2022. When I got the email reminding me that it would automatically renew, I started thinking. Wouldn’t it be nice if I could renew and support a writer with my membership fee? I know $2.01 per month isn’t much but when I had a referred member or two, there was something very comforting and rewarding about getting that steady bit of money each month. I felt supported, cared for.

Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles advised me that Medium will send you a zip file of all your content if you request it. I requested it and after waiting for the necessary 24-hours or so I got an email with the file attached. As promised all my content was included, everything that is, except for a list of my 770 followers.

I printed my stories, lists of people and publications I follow, and other bits and pieces like technical information that I think may come in handy if something goes wrong. I had a hard time finding a way to download/print a list of my followers. You know, in case I disappear I may want to say, “Hey, remember me.”

I had to click on Followers from my profile page, then copy and paste it into a document. This was tedious as I had to keep clicking Show More after each copy and…
