That is the question. How can you tell?

Ok, so call me old. Call me out of touch, out of date, whatever you like, but I am not feeling the whole AI publishing stories thing. And I am not sure how to tell if stories have been artificially written or if a live human being had their hands on the keyboard.

When someone follows me, I take a look at their profile. Maybe we have something in common, maybe I want to follow them as well, especially if we share interests. I browse their stories. A red flag goes up when several pieces are published on the same day. A huge red flag goes up if they have many followers and they joined a month ago.

It took time, real-time, for me to reach my first 100 followers. One thousand followers was a huge milestone. I see many profiles that state the person has been a member for a month or two and they have over a thousand followers. How is this possible?

I don’t want to rush to judgment. I am asking in earnest. How can I trust that someone is in this for real and not just trying to make a quick buck by having AI write a bunch of stories based on some data points entered into some algorithm?

For example:

How is this possible? Joined this month and has 3.2K Followers and is following 5.2K. How many hours a day would one have to work at following people to get this done?

It’s maddening!! Makes me want to chuck the whole thing!

So, please leave a comment. Do you feel the same? Am I right to think it's impossible to have that many followers in such a short time? And to have followed the 10k followers they seem to be following. This has got to be the work of AI…right?
